Description
Sevilla's Museo del Baile Flamenco (Flamenco Dance Museum) documents the evolution of flamenco from its origins to the present. It is located in an 18th century building in the Santa Cruz neighbourhood. Visitors can see various costumes and items used by flamenco dancers as well as paintings, sculptures and photographs all related to that art. At the end of the day, shows are held in the courtyard ground floor (separate review and entrance fee)
Access & Transport
Address: 3 Calle Manuel Rojas Marcos, 41004 Sevilla The museum is 500m east from the 'Plaza Nueva' tram stop (T1) and 700m West of the 'Menéndez Pelayo (Puerta Carmona)' bus stop (01, 21, A1, A3, A8, C3)
Instructions & Recommendations
For those interested in the show and the museum, there are combined tickets sold (€29/22/16 at the time of this review update).
Environmental & Social
We deem this activity marginally negative from an environmental standpoint (electricity consumption) and slightly positive socially as it helps spread the arts and document a cultural heritage
Conclusion
An interesting "boutique" museum for those keen to discover a little more about the history of the dance and check out some costumes. Not great value and probably not a priority for first time visitors.
Key positive
Good place to learn more about flamenco dance origin and art
Key negative
Small collection and a little expensive
Lacks written explanations
Suitability
No accessibility information provided on the website, but the museum is split over several floors, so we think it is only partially accessible for wheelchair users
