Hay Dairies - by Art L on Google
Description
Hay Dairies is a goat farm located in the northwest part of Singapore where most of the agricultural production of the country takes place. It is open to visitors (except Tuesdays) who can look at the animals in their barn, view the milking process between 9h00 and 10h30 and even feed hay to the goats (fee applies). Some products such as goat milk (flavoured or not) can also be purchased onsite.
Access & Transport
Car / Taxi is the best way to get there, the address is 3 Lim Chu Kang Lane 4 The closest bus stop is on Lim Chu Kang, only 100m away but there is only 1 bus service (#975 from Bukit Panjang) so that the journey from the city centre is quite time consuming.
Instructions & Recommendations
Peak time is 9h00 to 11h00 on weekends and public holidays. This is when the milking takes place We recommend trying out the goat milk, if you never have previously (it is a bit of an acquired taste) The Sungei Buloh natural reserve is nearby and can easily be combined with this activity
Environmental & Social
A good intro to farm animals and milk production for urban dwellers and helps sustain a small independent operation
Conclusion
We recommend a visit to the goat farm mainly to families residing in Singapore keen to have their children see and interact with some farm animals. Visitors who have previous exposure to the countryside and larger farms are likely to be underwhelmed, unless they have a specific interest in goat milk.
