Madame Tussauds Singapore

40 Imbiah Road, Southern Islands,

Description

Madame Tussauds displays waxworks of celebrities and historical figures - visitors can take their picture next to the life-like replicas. The London Museum was the first such concept and was created by wax sculptor Marie Tussaud in 1835; there are now over 25 museums in various cities in the world with the band name. The Singapore outpost is located at the Imbiah Lookout on Sentosa Island and features a mix of global and Asia celebrities and political figures such as Lee Kuan Yew and Sharukh Khan. The standard ticket also includes Images of Singapore (different sets spanning Singapore's history), The Spirit of Singapore boat ride, and the Ultimate Film Star Experience (customers can act and dance alongside Bollywood superstars - on TV). There is also an optional VR Experience (different ticket price) and Marvel 4D movie. Adult tickets are entitled to 1 Digipass (Digital Photo souvenir)

Access & Transport

The fastest and easiest way is to go by car / taxi. The closest parking is Imbiah Lookout Car Park Public transport is also a very viable option: MRT until Harbourfront station (Circle and NE lines) and then monorail until Imbiah Station

Instructions & Recommendations

Take not that children < 12 yrs old must be accompanied by an adult. Best to book ahead of time as capacity is limited and price is less expensive.

Meta review

The museum relies on the Madame Tussaud brand to attract a lot of foreign tourists and residents alike. Most visitors know what to expect and are pleased with the regional flavours of Singapore and Bollywood celebrities (there are a lot of Indian tourists visiting), the opportunity to take pictures with (wax) stars and the additional "experiences" thrown in, albeit those are quite short. We however need to point out that there are clearly a lot of fake reviews for this attraction and a fairly large percentage of visitors who are underwhelmed by the wax figures concept and don't find it a worthwhile time and cash investment.

Environmental & Social

The activity has a low carbon footprint. Socially neutral

Conclusion

Madame Tussauds wax museums are sure to divide opinions: on one side will be those that see little point to the concept and on the other those who find it fun. So, it should be a pretty easy choice, unless you are in a group with mixed interests. Fortunately, Singapore offers a little more variety with a few additional short theme park type of experiences which may broaden its appeal a little bit and help support the value for money consideration.

Concept of looking at wax sculptures of famous people is not for everyone
