Skyline Luge Sentosa

45 Siloso Beach Walk, Southern Islands,

Description

The Skyline Luge Sentosa is a kart-like luge system located on Sentosa's Imbiah Lookout in Singapore. The luge relies on gravity to roll downhill around one of four tracks of slightly different lengths (and therefore average gradients since they start and end in the same place) - between 628m and 688m. Customers are brought to the start using a chairlift (like in a ski resort) called the Skyride. A child must be min. 6 years AND min. 110cm to ride on his/her own. Children who cannot meet those conditions but are >85cm and can walk unassisted have the option to ride with an adult, the additional "child doubling" cost is indicated under "infant" in the price grid.

Access & Transport

The fastest and easiest way is to go by car / taxi. The closest parkings are the Beach Car Park and Imbiah Lookout Car Park Public transport is also a very viable option: MRT until Harbourfront station (Circle and NE lines) and then monorail until Imbiah Station or Beach Station

Instructions & Recommendations

Note that safety helmets are provided (no extra fee) so you do not need to bring your own

Meta review

Customers find the rides fun and also enjoy the chairlift (for those who are not used to ski resorts). The main issues highlighted in reviews are the waiting time, disorganized scanning of tickets, the occasional unfriendly staff and the odd comment about some equipment being old.

Environmental & Social

Moderate infrastructure and some electricity requirement to operate the chairlift. Socially neutral.

Conclusion

The Sentosa luge rides are a fun activity for foreign tourists and residents alike - it shows off what can be done with a little slope, no snow but some engineering capabilities. It certainly is not a must do from the point of view of a traveller with limited time but for those with extra time and dollars it is definitely worth considering.
