Universal Studios Singapore

8 Sentosa Gateway, Southern Islands,

Description

Universal Studios Singapore is the country's largest theme park, it is located on Sentosa island, within the Resorts World Sentosa complex. There are over 20 attractions spread across 7 themed zones: Hollywood, New York, Madagascar, The Lost World, Far Far Away, Sci-Fi City and Ancient Egypt. There is a mix of adrenaline-inducing rides, some family-friendly ones, shows and street performances.

Access & Transport

The address is 8 Sentosa Gateway, Resorts World Sentosa There are some bus options from the city, but it is generally faster to take the MRT until Harbourfront (Circle and NE lines) and from there use the boardwalk on foot, take a bus or the Sentosa Express monorail. Taxi / Car is also a convenient option but do note parking is expensive For full details, refer to the following page: https://www.rwsentosa.com/en/getting-here

Instructions & Recommendations

Make sure you check the current group restrictions and what rides / attractions are currently open before booking online

Meta review

For a lot of foreign tourists, the theme park is one of Singapore's main draws and it is heavily advertised in travel magazines. Visitors there love not only the rides but also the shows and themed zones decoration. In normal times, the main issues are waiting time (many customers end up being upsold the express pass) and the cost of food.

Environmental & Social

RWS has environmental sustainability policies, targets and projects with a focus on energy efficiency, water savings and reduction of food waste and single-use plastic. We should note however that savings doesn't mean that the theme park is not energy intensive... More info here: https://www.rwsentosa.com/en/sustainability. Likewise, for social and community with a focus on "empowerment", "engagement" and environment / conservation. More info here: https://www.rwsentosa.com/en/rws-cares

Conclusion

If you enjoy theme parks, then Universal Studio Singapore is an excellent option. There is enough there for a full day (not multiple ones) but you should expect long waiting lines unless you pay extra for the express pass. For those not necessarily sold on theme parks, we would suggest prioritizing other attractions.

Key positive

Enough rides to fill up a day

Great deco and good mix of rides and shows

Key negative

Waiting times are very long

Difficult to find healthy food options and all F&B is overpriced

Suitability

All ages welcome but best for families. Visitors with disabilities will not be able to access and/or enjoy all rides.
