Description
The Monastery of San Juan de Duero is a ruined medieval monastery located in Soria. It was built in the early 12th century and belonged to the Knights Hospitaller; only the church and the cloister arches remain today.
Access & Transport
The monument is located just outside the town of Soria, across the Douro River. There is parking on site but it is also possible to walk from the centre of town (15mins)
Instructions & Recommendations
We suggest combining this attraction with the Numantine Museum of Soria, 1.7km away.
Environmental & Social
No carbon footprint. Part of the architectural and historical heritage of the region and brings some economic influx to the town
Conclusion
A must see for those in the area, and not just architecture buffs, but too small to warrant a special trip. Best to combine with a couple of others sights in the town of Soria.
Key positive
Visually enjoyable set of arches
Low or no admission fees
Key negative
Not that much to see
Suitability
