Bursa Zoo - by Gezmeyi Seviyoruz on Google
Description
The Bursa Zoo includes a range of fish, reptile, birds and mammals. It is located in the city of Bursa, the fourth most populous in the country and the 2nd largest in the Marmara region after Istanbul. The most popular species include rhinos, tapir, tigers, lions, red pandas, anacondas, turtles, penguins, parrots and eagles.
Access & Transport
The zoo is located 2km north from the city center, near the Botanical Park, across the Nilufer river. There are buses services stopping nearby. The city has a large domestic airport and is a 2h30 / 150km drive from Istanbul.
Instructions & Recommendations
We suggest combining this activity with a visit of the Grand Mosque and Green Tomb in Bursa
Environmental & Social
No information available regarding conservation and educational efforts (except for a generic 2 lines on the website) - so we have to assume the animals are held just for show; a clear negative.
Conclusion
The Bursa Zoo is one of the best in Turkey and makes for a good alternative away from cultural attractions, provided you are comfortable with the concept of animals being held in captivity.
