Description
The National Museum of Emerging Science and Innovation, a.k.a. the Miraikan (meaning "Future Museum"), is housed in a modern building in south-western Tokyo. It was created by Japan's Science and Technology Agency and features impressive exhibits such as the Geo-Cosmos sphere that displays near real-time data such as global weather patterns and ocean temperatures and data sourced from seismometers spread across the country. The museum is divided in 3 sections: "Explore the frontiers" (Space, Earth and Life), "Create your future" (Robots, information, Innovation), and "Discover your Earth" (Feel, Search for, and Analyse the Earth).
Access & Transport
The Miraikan is in the Odaiba District, along Tokyo Bay. It can be reached via the Yurikamone fully automated transit system from Shimbashi or Shiodome. The stop is Hanzomon station.

The Miraikan is a well-rounded science museum with a few impressive exhibits but is best recommended for residents or those with a keen interest in space or robotics. First time visitors to the city are probably better off focusing on the Tokyo-specific sights in more central locations
