Description
Tokyo Sea Life Park is an aquarium located in eastern Tokyo; it is housed in a modern building designed by architect Yoshio Taniguchi. There are more than 600 different species in nearly 50 tanks that replicate different ecosystems such as the Pacific Ocean, Indian Ocean, Atlantic Ocean, Caribbean, Deep sea, and Arctic Ocean /Antarctic Ocean. The highlight is the doughnut-shaped "Voyagers of the sea" with several tuna and shark species inhabiting it. There is also a penguins' section.
Access & Transport
The aquarium is located in Edogawa Ward, along Tokyo Bay, about 12km southeast of the city centre. The JR station Kasai-Rinkai-Koen is only a 5mins' walk away. The ride to Tokyo station takes 15mins on the Keiyo line.

Not a Tokyo-must-see but an excellent value family-friendly option in a green area bordered by the sea. A welcome change from the urban jungle.
