Tokyo Sky Tree - by Nero on Google
Description
Tokyo Sky Tree is a broadcasting (TV and radio) and observation tower in Tokyo. It is currently the 3rd tallest tower in the world, reaching an incredible 634m. In terms of design, its base has a tripod shape before becoming cylindrical and, of course, it has seismic proofing. The lattice exterior is illuminated by LEDs at night, alternating between sky blue and Miyabi purple. There are two observation decks: Tembo spread across 3 floors up to 350m (cafe, restaurant and even glass floor section) and the Galleria across 2 floors up to 450m.
Access & Transport
The tower is located in the Sumida district, to the northeast of the city centre. It is actually walking distance to/from Asakusa and Sensō-ji, 15 mins across the Sumida River. In terms of public transports, it is served by the Oshiage (Skytree) metro station (A, Z) and the Tokyo Skytree train station (Ryomo, Nikko-Kinugawa and Tobu Skytree).
Instructions & Recommendations
Tickets are available for purchase 30 days before the desired visit date.
Environmental & Social
The use of the tower is primarily for broadcasting but leisure was an intended use from the get go and building a 600m+ tower is very resources intensive. Some sustainability efforts in terms of operation with solar panels, LEDS and DHC. Details here: https://www.tokyo-skytree.jp/en/about/sdgs/
