Instructions & Recommendations

Nature lovers / birdwatchers may want to combine a visit of Peniscola with the Parc Natural del Delta de l'Ebre about 1h north drive away, in southern Catalonia.

Meta review

The town is regularly featured in travel guides and magazines and is also regularly used as a set for movie/TV production. Visitors enjoy the gorgeous setting, the medieval charm of the narrow streets and many cafes and restaurants. The star attraction is, of course, the castle - it gets excellent online reviews for its rich history and splendid views over the town, the sea and coastline, highlighting is strategic defensive position.

Environmental & Social

Most activities in town are environmentally neutral. Over-commercialized but tourism also helps preserve the town's architectural heritage

Conclusion

If you love your seaside with a dash of history and medieval charm, then look no further than Peniscola. It has it all, or rather there is something for everyone. It works as a great stop between Catalunya and Valencia or as a 2 or 3-day destination on its own merit.
