Description
Requena is a town / municipality located 70km west of Valencia in the mountainous region of Las Cabrillas. Landmarks and highlights include the Church of Santa Maria and its sculpted portal, the medieval neighbourhood of La Villa, the fortress (La Fortaleza) and the Alcazaba, the 13th-century Church of San Nicolás, and the Palacio del Cid.
Access & Transport
The town is 70km / 1h drive from Valencia on the A-3, 100km from Albacete on the A-32, and 130km from Cuenca. There are regular buses to Valencia (1h journey).
Instructions & Recommendations
There are some interesting Bodegas as well for those keen to learn and try about local wines
Environmental & Social
The main attractions in the city have a low carbon footprint. Tourism is a welcome injection of activity and revenues in the local economy
Conclusion
A good stop for those driving between Valencia & Albacete but may not be worth a special trip from Valencia otherwise if you are on a tight schedule - unless you are very keen to try the Utiel-Requena wines in one of the Bodegas.
