Description
The Turia Garden is a large public urban park spread over 9km along the former riverbed of the Turia river within the city of Valencia - which explains why there are 18 bridges crossing it! It was created following the decision to divert the river after a major flood in 1957. It runs from Cabecera Park to the City of Arts and Sciences and includes a variety of trees and plants (palm trees, orange trees, rose beds), fountains and ponds, and sport facilities which makes it popular with runners, cyclists, families and nature enthusiasts.
Access & Transport
Turia station (0, 1, 2, 4) in the north-western side and Alameda (0, 3, 5, 7, 9) on the eastern side are the main transport hubs. There are also several bus services running alongside the garden stretch.
Instructions & Recommendations
The City of the Arts and Science, the Serrans Tower, The Fine Arts Museum and the Carmen neighbourhood are all neighbouring the park.
Environmental & Social
We deem this activity to be marginally positive from an environmental standpoint, on account of the green space and trees. Socially positive as it enhances the living environment of residents
Conclusion
The Turia Garden makes for a very enjoyable and relaxing break from Valencia's urban attractions and is also an excellent option for running, cycling, a casual walk or just take the kids out!
