Description
L'Oceanogràfic is a large oceanarium situated in Valencia's iconic City of Arts and Sciences complex. The park is home to 45,000 animals from over 500 different species (penguins, dolphins, sharks, beluga whales, etc.) and is divided into several areas representing major ecosystems such as the Arctic oceans, Mediterranean habitats, the Red Sea. The highlight being a 7m litres tank with sharks and rays and the dolphinarium but there is also an outdoor area of mangrove swamps and marshland, and a garden. The steel-fibre reinforced concrete thin-shell structure was designed by Félix Candela.
