Bormes les Mimosas - by Sandra Torres on Google
Description
Bormes-les-Mimosas is a seaside town on the French Cote d'Azur, just to the east of the Hyeres-Toulon metropolitan area. It is well known for its picturesque hillside setting, medieval houses overgrown with bougainvillea flowers, beautiful coastline and the Fort de Brégançon - a fortress that is the official retreat of the President of the French Republic (can be visited when the head of state is not in residence). The town used to comprise the area of Le Lavandou but the latter split into a separate town in 1913.
Access & Transport
Bormes is 40km to the east of Toulon (A570/D98), 100km from Marseille, 60km to the southwest of Fréjus, 35km from St-Tropez and 135km from Nice.
Instructions & Recommendations
Visitors to the town can enjoy its beaches, medieval streets and surrounding countryside. The town of Hyeres (20km away) is also worth a visit.
Environmental & Social
Environmentally neutral (no carbon footprint). Positive from a social perspective as tourism helps preserve the town's cultural heritage and provides economic activity to the community but there is a clear case of over-commercialization, and the town is expensive for residents.
Conclusion
The seaside town or Bormes is candy for the eye with its mimosa-lines houses and alleyways, beautiful surroundings and overall charming atmosphere. Works well for a half-day stop or as a multi-day stay for those whose aim is to soak in the sun, eat well and just enjoy the day.
Key positive

Key negative
Busy and expensive in the summer
