Pampelonne Beach, Ramatuelle - by unknown on Google
Description
Pampelonne Beach is a 4.5km long beach on the southern side of the Saint Tropez Peninsula in the commune of Ramatuelle, along the French Riviera. Whilst technically incorrect, it is often tagged as a Saint-Tropez beach; it stretches between Cap Pinet (in the north) and Cap Camarat (in the south). The beach was used during the Allied landing of WW2 but today it is mostly known for its various beach clubs such as Nikki Beach or Bagatelle.
Access & Transport
The beach is in Ramatuelle, 6km south of Saint Tropez. It is 43km southwest of Fréjus, 115km from Nice (A8 / D25), 75km east of Toulon (A570/D98) and 140km from Marseille.
Instructions & Recommendations
It's the beach and the sun can be strong in the southeast of France so don't forget the usual protective equipment (hat/cap, "green" sunblock, sunglasses, slippers) and some water. Other nearby activities include the town of Saint Tropez with its citadel and maritime museum.
Environmental & Social
Activity with no carbon footprint. There is increasing pressure to limit commercial developments on the beach itself.
Conclusion
Pampelonne Beach gathers all the ingredients of success: nice sand, clear water, family friendly, the essential public facilites, and easy road access. It is no tropical white sands with palm trees and it might start to feel over-developed for some but, barring that, this is an excellent option for anybody looking for some time at the beach.
