Naschmarkt Vienna - by Nihad Taha on Google
Description
The Naschmarkt is Vienna's most popular food market. It is more than 1km long and consists of stalls selling fruits, vegetables, cheese, baked goods, meat and seafood as well as restaurants and bars. It was created in the 16th century.
Access & Transport
The market is located to the south of Innere Stadt, between Rechte Wienzeile and Linke Wienzeile. Kettenbrückengasse metro station (U4) is at the southwestern end and Karlsplatz (U1, U4 and trams 1 and 62) near the north-eastern end.
Instructions & Recommendations
Note that the stalls are closed on Sundays, but most bars and restaurants are open then.
Environmental & Social
No info around sourcing. We presume there are lots of small independent farmers and artesans.
Conclusion
A good place to check out and browse through when in the area but we would not suggest a significant detour for the sake of eating there. Can be good for families / groups who really do not fancy eating the same thing on the day.
