1 / 5
Prater Wien, Ferris Wheel - by Management
Description
The Prater Giant Ferris Wheel (Wiener Riesenrad) is 65m tall, comprises 15 gondolas and takes customers one full loop in 12 to 15 minutes. It was built in 1897 at the entrance of the Prater, a large amusement park in Vienna with a wide range of individual attractions.
Access & Transport
The Prater is 2km northeast of Vienna city centre, across one of the branches of the Danube River. The underground station 'Messe-Prater' (U2) is 200m to the east of the attraction and the Wien Praterstern tram station (5) and Praterstern train station are both 200m to the west.
Instructions & Recommendations
Note: free entry with Vienna Pass Check the exact opening hours here: https://wienerriesenrad.com/en/opening-hours/
Environmental & Social
Quite energy intensive on a per person basis. LED lights are used
Conclusion
The Ferris Wheel is in many ways a monument of Vienna so it is hard not to recommend it despite being relatively poor economic value. However, if you prefer other rides in the Prater to this one, you should not feel you are missing much.
