Description
The Upper Belvedere is a Baroque Palace, part of a complex built as a summer residence for Prince Eugene of Savoy. Other sections include the Lower Belvedere Palace, the Orangery, and the Palace Stables, all set within a large, landscaped park in the southeast of Vienna. It was built in the early 18th century and is remarkable for its façade and ceiling frescoes by Italian artists such as Carlo Carlone, Francisco Solimena and Gaetano Fanti. The palace houses an art museum with works by artists such as Klimt, Schiele, Funke, Monet and van Gogh.

The Belvedere complex is about 2km southwest of the Opera and Innere Stadt, the city centre of Vienna. Schloss Belvedere tram D line runs past the western edge of the park and Kölblgasse tram station (1, O) is on the eastern edge. The Wien Rennweg train station is a 10mins walk away to the northeast.
