Château de la Mothe-Chandeniers - by Exc Tenomis on Google

Description
The Château de la Mothe-Chandeniers is a 13th-century castle in the Anjou region. It was rebuilt in the 1870s in Neogothic style but fell into disuse after a fire in 1932. However, some major renovation works have been ongoing after a crowdfunding initiated in 2017 that involved nearly 28,000 people from 115 countries.
Access & Transport
Address: 4 route de Roiffé, Les Trois-Moutiers The castle is roughly in the centre of a triangle formed by the towns of Poitiers (70km), Angers (75km) and Tours (70km). There is a free car park next to the entrance. The closest train station is in Saumur, 26km away.

There was the option of scheduled guided visits in French or English but, at time of our last update, these were no longer shown on the website. There is however a contact form to enquire about group tours and guided visits.
Environmental & Social
Environmentally neutral. Helps preserve the region's architectural heritage
Conclusion
If you come with moderate expectations, knowing the state of the castle, then you should be able to enjoy the natural setting and romantic neogothic architecture. If you expect a full blown visit with furnished rooms then this isn't it.

Visually striking architecture and moat
Key negative
Nothing to see inside
Suitability
Visitors with reduced mobility will be able to admire the castle from outside but the inner areas are not accessible
