Description
The National Gallery of Art collections focus on Western Art spanning the period from the Middle Ages to the present. The Gallery's campus includes the original neoclassical West Building designed by John Russell Pope, which is linked underground to the modern East Building, designed by I. M. Pei, and the 6.1-acre (25,000 m2) Sculpture Garden. It is one of the most visited art museums in the world and the collections include many paintings from European Old Masters / Renaissance artists such as Boticelli or El Greco and 18-19th century artists such as Goya or Delacroix.
Access & Transport
The museum is on the northern side of the National Mall, just west of the US Capitol. The closest public transport options are ''Archives-Navy Memorial-Penn Quarter' (Green, Yellow lines) and 'Judiciary Square' (Red line) metro stations. There are also bus services along Constitution Ave and Pennsylvania Avenue NW. Directions: https://www.nga.gov/visit/getting-here.html Accessibility info: https://www.nga.gov/visit/accessibility.html

Environmental & Social
No environmental data available - some environment impact to run the museum (mostly electricity) Positive from a social perspective by helping spread culture and the arts.
Conclusion
The NGA is without discussion a world-class art museum. Unless art and culture are not your thing at all, it should be on your itinerary. There is enough breadth of collection and depth for at least two visits, in our opinion.
