Description
The Troy Museum displays over 2,000 artifacts and exhibits relating to the history not just of Troy but also Assos, Tenedos and Parion, among others. The cube-shaped building opened in 2018 and consists of 4 floors providing visitors with information about the Bronze Age of Troy, the Trojan War and other sites in the area.
Access & Transport
The museum is in Tevfikiye village, a few hundred meters from the archaeological site itself. It is 30km from the city of Çanakkale with minibuses plying the route and well over 300km / 4h drive from Istanbul.
Instructions & Recommendations
We recommend visiting before the ruins to equip yourself with relevant knowledge.
Environmental & Social
Minor environmental footprint due to electricity consumption. Helps preserve the architectural and historical heritage of the region
Conclusion
The Troy Museum has a striking design and a comprehensive collection, well laid out over 4 storeys. It is not a substitute but, rather, an ideal companion to the ruins themselves, enhancing the visitors' experience by arming them with knowledge and an interpretation of what they will see.
