Instructions & Recommendations

Note that there is also another garden belonging to the University of Zurich now called the 'Old Botanical Garden' situated in the city centre, a 2mins walk west of Bahnhofstrasse.

Meta review

Nothing extraordinary in online reviews and a brief mention in some travel blogs but the comments are actually consistently positive. Visitors enjoy the easy access by public transport, the free admission, and the all-seasons tropical domes that provide a hedge for those checking out the place in winter. Several reviewers clearly state that those are not the most impressive botanical gardens you will ever see but they are nice, quiet, and make for a good break in a natural environment.

Environmental & Social

A green attraction. Improves residents' living environment

Conclusion

Nice botanical garden that stands out for its domed greenhouses but we feel this is an attraction that will be best enjoyed for residents looking for a weekend activity or botany buffs rather than the casual tourist with only a couple of days in Zurich. Indeed, nature and the mountains are at the city's doorstep

Key positive

Impressive all-season greenhouses

Close to the city centre and free admission

Key negative

Not very large and nothing truly exceptional

Suitability

The paths and greenhouses look to be accessible for wheelchair users
